John Ackerman, Founder and President of Ackerman Properties Ltd,
brings to his company over eighteen years of experience in the
business and real estate community. He was educated in New York
at PACE University and New York University.
He formed Ackerman Properties to help clients develop the full
potential of their properties and, as an owner of several brownstones
on Upper West Side, John has excellent insight and understanding
of real estate issues. In fact, other brokers and owners often seek
his advice on real estate matters.
In addition, John has been a consultant with Vandenberg Inc., a
real estate brokerage firm on the Upper West Side. He is also a
member of Small Property Owners of New York, Rent Stabilization
Association and the Real Estate Board of New York. This enables
him to interact with hundreds of real estate professionals
monthly, to understand a changing market ahead of others in the
field. He is also Vice President of the Police Liason Group of
the Upper West Side.
Before forming his own company John acted as a financial and
operational manager for Paramount Group Inc., a large multi-
national development group, overseeing $200 million in annual
revenue, increasing collections by 35 percent and reducing bad
debt by over 70 percent. He was able to increase equity on
several large scale shopping centers (3.4 million square feet)
by 40 percent in one year.
Prior to this he worked in the investment firm of Constantino,
Melemede and Greenberg, under two former acquisition and managing
tax partners from Deloitte Touche. He also gained real estate
experience with Rentar Development, a development firm established
40 years ago, managing $500 million of property.
John began his career with Helmsley-Spear’s development corporation,
park West Villiage, in an $800 million development/conversion of
their 2,500 residential apartment complex on the Upper West Side.
